From Little Dog to Dingo – CorsaGuitars.com

I’ve always been about tone. Always. Or, to be more precise, when I first heard Peter Green’s out of phase tone about 50 years ago. Wow, never thought about it in those terms, but that really makes me feel old! I talk about my quest for  the  tone in another blog post, so I’m not going to repeat it here. What I do want to talk about is the evolution of  Corsa Guitars . Very simply, since tone is the name of the game for me, when I discover  better guitar tone  and find a platform to deliver that tone at a reduced cost, it makes no sense to me to look backward. This post will be my attempt to convey what I have learned and why I am going in this new direction. It may seem corny, but this whole new project started to take shape in my mind after watching a video about Peter Green’s guitar collection. At one point he talks about one pickup guitars. He doesn’t articulate his feeling about it in a very precisely thought out way, but I think that’s because it i...

Become Your Own Guitar Tech: Basic Tools and Tricks

I've been a guitar player for decades but only recently became serious about working on my instruments. In my research, I’ve found hundreds of articles about instrument repair, and while many are fantastic and chock full of information that’s invaluable to musicians, a lot is impractical or requires more space or specialized tools than most of us have. Plus, some repairs, such as fretwork, nut replacement, under-saddle pickup installation and finish repairs are best left to professionals. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t work on your own guitars, only that you should know your limits, which in many instances are related to having the right tools. What I found most challenging when getting started was knowing what tools I should buy, and which were not worth the money based on my skill level. From trial and error, I found what some repairs were simple and small-space friendly. Any of the repairs discussed can be done with just a clean and level space. All of these techniques w...

Chasing the Peter Green Tone

Everyone who knows about Peter Green as a guitarist knows about his famous “PG Mod” out of phase tone. While not very well accepted by the general population of guitarists, anyone who is a fan of Peter Green is interested in the unique tone. But, I often ask myself, “What if Peter had a typical Les Paul that didn’t have the necessary resonance and sustain needed to pull off the out of phase tone properly?” What then? Well, I suspect there would be no Peter Green out of phase tone to be chasing! Let me explain…                         Having been totally into the out of phase tone since I first heard Peter play it (Merry Go ‘Round on the Dog & Dustbin album), I was able to finally have my first experience with it in 1971. A good friend of mine, Peter Montagna, was lucky enough to have a dad who was into woodworking. Somehow, Peter found out about how to get the out of phase tone by manipulating a magnet in one of th...

Everything You Need To Know About Vitamin B12 Vapes

For anyone who dreads their monthly B12 shots, the concept of vaping vitamin B12 could be a game changer. A new company called Inhale Vapes has created vape pens that allow you to inhale the vitamin instead of getting it intravenously by a wellness specialist. The devices look like your run-of-the-mill e-cigarettes and allow you to atomize water containing B12 into your lungs where the tissue then absorbs it directly in the bloodstream. The science of inhaling vitamins dates back to the 1950’s and only now is it starting to be taken seriously by the medical industry. There are many medicines that are administered through inhalation yet many specialists were skeptical that this method was effective. It turns out that it is an effective method of absorption as a number of people with pernicious anemia have been coming forward and showing results from their blood tests at the end of the month when they are due for a vitamin B12 shot compared to the levels of B12 in their system a...

Which Guitars use INCH parts and which use METRIC parts?

There are two constants when it comes to the type of parts used on modern electric guitars: ALL GIBSON® guitars with  real “ABR-1”  bridges  (see notes below) use all INCH (Imperial) parts ALL  Imported guitars  (guitars not made in the U.S.A.) use METRIC parts Other than those, things can get a bit confusing. Let’s examine a few of those: Gibson® guitars with  NASHVILLE bridges : these guitars use METRIC parts for the bridge and bridge posts, and INCH tailpiece studs. Heritage® guitars : are made in the U.S.A. and have essentially the same bridge system as a Gibson® with NASHVILLE bridges, but they use METRIC tailpiece studs. Other AMERICAN brands that are  made outside the U.S.A. : these guitars use ALL METRIC parts and, for the purpose of parts selection, should be considered as “imported.” Notes about Gibson® ABR-1 bridges: Gibson® confuses things by using what they call an “ABR-1” bridge on some newer model Les Pauls, such as t...

Why vaping Vitamin B12 is proving to be an effective method of absorption?

Vitamin B12 helps the body remain healthy in a range of ways from regulating mood, assisting with fatigue, natural energy production, keeping the bodies nerves and cells healthy and preventing anemia which is a condition where the body is deficient in red blood cells and unable to optimally deliver oxygen throughout the body; which causes people to feel weak and tired. Many people unknowingly suffer from low B12 levels especially vegans and vegetarians who are not eating enough animal products where Vitamin B12 is a rich source. People resort to tablets and capsules of Vitamin B12 but the absorption rates are between 6-20% and most of the time a very little amount of Vitamin B12 is actually absorbed. Scientists in the United States have discovered that inhaling Vitamin B12 can be a more effective method. There are a couple of key reasons that vitamin B12 works so well for inhalation . One reason is that your body only needs a small amount of vitamin B12 everyday [1], so you can...
